Capsize: A Reintroduction...

Updated: Jan 13, 2020

‘A Reintroduction…’ sees Californian post-hardcore quartet Capsize take a different turn with their music. XX (Sew My Eyes) was the first release from the album, the track shows off Daniel Wands clean vocals whilst keeping the musical style true to their post-hardcore roots which is more prominent in comparison to previous releases. Daniel reveals “The song is about the idea of wanting to move on from a moment, person or cycle in life, but feeling like your actions that leave you unexplainably content in discomfort make up who you are, and battling that in your head. It isn’t about one certain thing, just the fear that you can’t change fast enough in your own eyes.” The album explores many different emotions and shows off the band's energy and intensity whilst also showing their vulnerability. A stand out from the album comes in the form of ‘Safe Place’, here the band feature electronic harmonies, perfectly balanced alongside beautiful yet moody lyrics. As the slowest song on the album, it stands alone as a mellow and more sombre track but it has the ability to become a fan favourite due to its diversity. Overall ‘A Reintroduction…’ sees Capsize release one of their boldest and possibly darkest albums to date. Though a potential risk, the band make it worthwhile with a hard hitting album.
