Greta Van Fleet + support at Electric Ballroom, Camden, 11/06/2018

Updated: Jan 13

A warm night in June seemed like the perfect night to listen to rock music, especially in the Camden, known for its diverse tastes in fashion and music in the heart of London. After their appearance on the Zippo Encore Stage at Download Festival, Greta Van Fleet had the energy for another performance at the Electric Ballroom with support from Sheffield’s SHEAFS - how well did they do? First to perform are SHEAFS, who show their influences in their music, but also bring something new to the table in terms of indie rock, and it’s great to see a band nowadays actually perform indie rock! With recent singles like “Mind Pollution” “Shock Machine”, and “This Is Not a Protest”, they made a fantastic set that presented the showmanship of the band, and made it a memorable set. As stated, their influences are evident, with hints of The White Stripes and early Arctic Monkeys in their music, they’re able to make their own mark in the genre, as well as interacting really well with the audience, creating a fun experience for everyone attending that night. Then it was time for Greta Van Fleet, who even after performing the day before, delivered a high energy performance, starting with “Highway Tune” and vocalist Josh Kizka’s long opening note to the song transcended through the venue and kicked off a great set, including their own songs “Edge of Darkness” and “Flower Power”, as well as their cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Evil (Is Going On)”, which they do make their own, and would also make a great single from the band. With the addition of some, at the moment, concert only songs like “Mountain of the Sun”, “You’re The One”, and “Watching Over” going down well with the crowd, as well as showcasing the diverse sound the band have grown into, and with finishing with crowd-pleasers “Black Smoke Rising”, and “Safari Song”, for those attending, it was a night that they weren’t going to forget. In summary, both bands delivered exceptional sets, and we can only look forward to what both these fantastic bands have in store next! As Greta Van Fleet have previously mentioned that they've made an album, we can only wait fr the release date, and expect great things to come from it.
