LOUDER NEWS: The Sunday Sadness release video for new single 'Someone'
Updated: Feb 6, 2020
Bordeaux-based quartet The Sunday Sadness have announced the release of the video for their new track ‘Someone’, taken from their upcoming self-titled debut EP, which is due as a self-release on February 15th 2019. The band work under their self-coined moniker of ‘dark-pop’, blending influences as far flung as BTS, My Chemical Romance and The 1975 to create a multi-faceted sound that highlights their potential to make their mark on the wistful dreamscape of modern alt-pop.
Blending spacey synths and dreamy rhythms with a darker, more melancholy edge, ‘Someone’ explores the idea of loss and learning to cope without the person who means most to you in your life. It is poignantly bittersweet and tangibly pulls at the heartstrings, and the hazy glow of the slowly shifting melody effectively draws you into its trancelike cocoon of rapture- the perfect companion for ethereal late night ponderings.
In such a saturated alt-pop market, it can be difficult to make yourself heard above the chatter, however, with each song on the EP set to explore similar pathways, navigating the idea of loss in all its forms, this track will go on to become a constituent part of a very intriguing concept EP with a wealth of depth to explore beneath its surface- an ambitious first strike out into the alt-pop spotlight for this young band.
