LOUDER FEATURES: Mixtape Medley with Lastelle

Welcome back to Mixtape Medley, where we take you inside the playlists and CD shelves of your favourite up-and-coming bands! In this edition, we chatted to the guys in melodic metal core outfit Lastelle. The quintet have been making waves in the alternative world of late, despite not being able to play any shows in support of their latest single, 'Coping Without A Cure'. Despite this, their special ability to balance the heavy-hitting riffs with a self-contained gravitas has endeared them to a new legion of fans - so are their personal musical influences part of the reason for this? Find out below...

All the songs mentioned below have been compiled into this handy playlist - listen along here:

Which songs were the soundtrack to your childhood?

Rich – Queen (especially the Innuendo album) were a big part of my life. My brother got me into them growing up and they’ve stuck with me.

If you could have stood side stage for one band as a teenager, who would it have been and why?

Jonjo – I would have loved to be side stage for Funeral for a Friend. I’ll settle for seeing them next year instead!

Which song/s makes you think of someone close to you and why?

Jonjo – Coping Without a Cure was written for a close relative that was suffering with Alzheimer’s. This song has been really personal for me.

If you could go back and listen to any album for the first time again, which would it be?

Mike - 'Take Off Your Colours' by You Me At Six. Such a banging album, I would listen to it on repeat forever.

What was the last song you downloaded to your phone/ added to your music?

Adam - Noija’s new album is excellent! Definitely a band to watch..

Do you have any ‘guilty pleasure’ songs that you wouldn’t admit to liking in front of people?

Rich listens to Abba, and he loves it. It’s a pleasure, but he definitely doesn’t feel guilty about it!

What would be your go-to getting pumped song – either for the gym or just as motivation to get out of bed in the morning!

Freddie - 'First World Problem Child' by Stray From The Path is a great gym song.

You have to borrow one piece of kit from one musician – what would you love to play of theirs?

Rich – Any of Matt Bellamy’s guitars would be incredible to experiment with.

Which song are you most proud of writing?

Adam - Mentioning it again, 'Coping Without a Cure' is our latest song, but it’s definitely the one we’re most proud of. It’s a new chapter for the band and it’s really humbling to hear all the kind things people have said about it.

'Coping Without A Cure' is out now - check out the video below and stream the track here:
