LOUDER NEWS: Employed To Serve are Conquering British metal

EMPLOYED TO SERVE have always been abrasive, and worn their influences on their sleeve but the first two singles from new record Conquering (Exist, Mark Of The Grave), have seen them fully embrace their New Wave Of American Heavy Metal favourites which have been lacking in the previous trilogy – namely taking on the mantle of a British LAMB OF GOD. The Woking quintet have fully leant into groove metal, and the absurd nature of the sub-genre – with lead guitarist and (for one of the only time in the band’s history) clean vocalist Sammy Urwin ripping his way into the Mark Of The Grave on a dodgy CGI dragon (no fantasy animals were harmed in the making of this track).

Justine Jones is as ever a stalwart presence, and with the entire band playing in front of a sieged, Tolkien-esque CGI (think 90s b-movie, Manowar style video), but despite the hilarious backdrop, Mark Of The Grave and Exist are two of the best songs Employed To Serve have ever written, fully embracing the bigger venues that Eternal Forward Motion has propelled them to – and these two lead singles are perfectly built for that enormous Gojira arena tour come 2022. Employed To Serve are Conquering, and by god are they doing it well.

Employed To Serve's fourth studio album Conquering is out September 17th via Spinefarm. Commenting on the album, vocalist Justine Jones said “Conquering is about rising above adversity and self-doubt. We're really excited to share our latest album, I feel it's our best work to date. We wanted to go a more metal orientated direction with this album and see how far we could push our musical capabilities.”
