LOUDER NEWS: Lastelle drop new single and announce new EP 'DELICATE'
Post-hardcore prodigies Lastelle have been on a skyward-shooting trajectory of late, in a year which has tried it's damnedest to squash the life out of up-and-coming bands. After joining forces with Year of the Rat Records back in August, their stredy fanbase has bloomed, making them one of the most exciting prospects in the ever-morphing landcsape of British hardcore music.
Following on from previous singles 'Coping Without a Cure' and 'Distant Bodies', their latest release, 'Only Apathy' builds on the ethereal, atmospheric aura which the band surround themselves within. Post-hardcore has a reputation for being brash and impetuous, shoving it's whinging guitars and strained vocals under your nose and in front of your face. Yet, what makes Lastelle stand out from this motley crew is the veil of softness that envelopes their songs - highlighted on 'Only Apathy' by the chorus of sensitively composed guitars which ebb and flow around the fiery centre of the vocals. Rather like a depth charge exploding in the deep water, the gut-punching power of the track comes from it's powerful undercurrent that surges beneath the surface. Therefore, the title of the upcoming EP from which this track is taken, 'DELICATE', seems perfectly apt for this band - a fragility delivered with powerful intent. The EP is due for release in February next year, and will feature the previously released singles, as well as as-yet-unheard songs. Excited? We sure are!
